The Bridesmaid Brunch

We have heard many times that finding Bridesmaid gowns is harder than the Brides! Why is this? We think the reason is most people struggle to agree on style and colour but a lot of girls have friends far and wide across the country, even in different countries. The Bridesmaid Fair and Brunch is the perfect occasion to meet up, have brunch, drinks and shop together all in one place. You can try on all different styles and colours and it really helps you see your vision of how you want your girls to look.

A Pretty Decent Hen do ..

Maid with Style have recently had the pleasure of getting to know the team at Pretty decent beer, an exciting new taproom and micro brewery in Forest Gate.

Now you may ask why on earth we are spending our time drinking beer on a work day instead of looking for dresses? For all of our bridesmaids to be of course!!

Not only do Pretty Decent Beer cater to weddings but they give you the opportunity to brew your very own beer for the big day and what better activity to enjoy on the hen do?!

Gather the troops together for a day of brewing and banter with owner James who will help you master the art of beer and create a bespoke package suitable to your needs right down to the bespoke labels.

You won’t be disappointed by the beer from this young flexible brewery and every sip you take you are also helping get water to people who need it most through the fantastic charity pump aid.

So, the journey has begun, you’re engaged! Your first steps of planning may feel like a whirlwind of information – an array of never-ending choices. It is important in equal measures to be savvy AND enjoy yourself whilst being clever with your time and money. Maid with Style is here to guarantee at least one easy part of your planning and one you can be sure to remember with fond memories and your favourite girls!

It can be tricky enough rallying the team together to find your dream dress, so how do you start shopping for them? This calls for a dedicated girls night for all things bridesmaid and Maid of Honour!

We love an excuse to get together with our best of the bests or worst of the worsts (however you see those glorious fans of yours!) So, what better way to shop then in your own home with your faves and a couple of bottles of prosecco?

Options online are now so vast; yes, even for bridesmaid dresses. With our favourite brands such as Asos, Topshop, MissGuided and even Whistles now introducing their very own stylish bridesmaid attire, we are spoilt for choice. Maid with Style bring all of these brands along with brands that are new and exclusive to the bridal industry. Plus even ones that may not have been on your radar at all!

The website gives you clear and concise choices with no stress- but big style- and allows the girls to all be involved making suggestions from wherever they may be. Each gown can be ordered directly from the supplier. It’s just a case of booking in your tailor-maid night in with the gang!

Make this night a hen-initiation night. An evening of friendship, laughter and of course decisions. This is also an opportunity to discuss with your bridesmaids what it is you expect from them and what they can offer you in the build-up to the big day. And if you have ordered your bridal gown already, don’t forget to request a swatch of fabric for your dress to compare to the bridesmaids.

Make your other half scarce for the evening, get the team over, whack Bridesmaids the movie on and get the catwalk (that section between coffee table and TV) rocking!

The day is of course yours so the theme and feel to the attire is ultimately your vision. However, don’t forget to listen to your bridesmaids too. The photos from the day are going to last a lifetime and you want your bridesmaids to feel fabulous with you. Each person is an individual and combining style, cut and colour is all the trend at the moment so don’t be afraid to mix things up a bit. Trust that you can work together as a team to create that beautiful look you’ve envisaged… but boss gets final say!

What about the bridesmaids..?

So here it finally is! My little website for you all!

I thought I’d take this opportunity to tell you a bit about how Maid with Style came to fruition. I have been working in the bridal industry now for 8 years. My job has been to find the bride the wedding dress of her dreams. I’ve spent years figuring out how to spot the correct dress for each individual that walks through the door. What is her style? What will her day be like? What will her future husband/wife be wearing? How can we compliment their outfit? With all of these questions answered and after trying on a selection of gowns, there it is..the one!

It is the most exciting moment to have the honour of sharing with a bride and her bridal party. I myself have even been brought to tears on more than one occasion! Now that the bride has picked her stunningly stylish gown, the next question is always the same, “What about the bridesmaids?”

Ah yes “What about the bridesmaids?” This question is always asked in a nervous tone and a look of fear of the next arduous task at hand. Each bride I have met wants their bridesmaids to look and feel fabulous, they want to show their individuality, they don’t want them looking like a pack of crayons that have been squished in to an ill fitting sheath! They want them to be just as stylish as the bride and to wear something they would be happily wear again!

The bride would always ask me how they can get the kind of look that you see in the bridal magazines, where all of the dresses were so individual and from different brands. By this point I had usually met most of the bridesmaids and so began the whole process of finding the dream dress once again but this time the dream look for each individual bridesmaid. I would visit ASOS, Topshop, Warehouse; all of the best high street brands as well as discovering new brands. The list would be compiled and I would send the bride an email with links to each dress. The dresses would be ordered and quite often they would have a trying on session all together at home making a night of it!

So this is how Maid with Style London was born. I want each bridal party to have the opportunity to see all the best of the best in one website, allowing more time for the important stuff and an opportunity to enjoy the process!

If you dress day-to-day keeping up with Londons latest trends, why should you not for the big day?!
With people like ASOS, misguided and many more now doing bridal, it is becoming easier to access all of these trends. Maid with Style London just puts it all in one stop for you.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the website!

Bridesmaid Dresses: The Marie Claire edit

Bridesmaid dresses really are a treat to shop for: if you can manage to keep each of your bridesmaids happy, that is. Yes, bridesmaids come in all shapes and sizes and their individual tastes can’t always be easily catered for in one single sitting. That’s why we’ve pulled out our own picks to narrow down the search and help you broaden your own vision for the bridal party.

We have scoured the best online designer boutiques and plundered the high-street to find the bridesmaid dresses you’ll actually want at your wedding. Be inspired by this season’s luxe evening dresses and the catwalk’s key A-line and floral trends that are perfect for a 2016 wedding.

Maids with Style behind the lens….

MWSL had the pleasure of working with the most incredible team imaginable in a truly stunning photoshoot. All in preparation for the 2017 launch! Here we share with you all the behind the scenes details of Maid with Style’s wedding day at The Roost, Dalston.

We wanted to show modern day bridesmaids from the beginning to the end of the day when everyone begins to let loose on the dance floor. Each dress was specifically picked to compliment each model’s look. This is MWSL’s ethos, each bridesmaid is an individual!

Do’s and Don’ts of Picking the Perfect Bridesmaid Dress

DO keep in mind your personal style, especially how the bridesmaid dress will look with your own dress and the overall look of your wedding. Even though you are not wearing it, your bridesmaid dress is still a reflection of your own taste and aesthetic.

1 Color Palette
DO pick a color that will be prominent in the color palette for your wedding but DON’T feel limited to just one color. You can do a color combination or multiple shades in the same color family. Popular mixes are nude/pink/blush, green/turquoise/blue, and ombres such as red to pink.

2 Consider the Cost
DON’T decide on a dress without checking with your bridesmaids budgets. Be sensitive to everyones finances. If you absolutely love a dress that some of your girls might have difficulty affording, consider contributing a portion of the cost or find a similar dress at a lower price poin

3 Choose a Flattering Style
DO keep in mind the body types of your bridesmaids. Are they comfortable in certain styles? Feel free to mix different styles, or pick one that is generally flattering for all body types.

4 Think Timeless
DON’T feel glued to what is trending. Stick with classic styles and colors that will stand the test of time.

5 Remember, Its Your Wedding
DON’T pick something just because you think it is re-wearable. A bridesmaid dress is precisely that, a dress for your bridesmaid to wear to your wedding. If it ends up getting re-worn, that is a bonus, but not something that you should stress out about!
